American Girl has style

  In all the time I've had my American Girl doll I have never made her anything to wear. So lately I've been sewing for her. And there have been a lot of new clothes pilling up in her suitcases. This last one has a few pieces to the set, and it turned out really pretty, so here it is.
There are 3 different overskirts, the mermaid style dress and a jacket, and hat. That took awhile.
 

Steampunk Two!

Another piece to the outfit. The accessories belt. It holds everything one could need to create that futuristic thing-a-ma-jig. lol.

All the little tools are working metal replicas of full size tools. I found this set on ebay. Along with a working tiny pocket watch, a telescope, a penknife and an eyeglass case I think she is ready and able to get down to the craft of making the next big discovery {if HG Wells doesn't get there first. }

  The belt is made of vinyl leatherette, a few metal rings, and an antique belt clip, that looks very avant guard.

Steampunk!

OK, I've succumb to the lure of Steampunk. So I've been playing around with jewelry findings and some odds and ends I got from Home Depot in the fittings for bathroom etc. I felt if my 18" American Girl was going steampunk she would need a ray gun. So how does one make that? Just like I did. You play with pieces and parts till something emerges like this little 6 1/4" X 2" futuristic gun. I hand carved the handle to fit the barrel of the gun. I think it looks like it could fire and if it did it would certainly hurt.

What do you think?

Like the bodice daggers of old this would work as a bodice ray gun people size. One would just have to make sure you didn't set it off by accident. lol

8" French Fashion Bride

This is the bridal dress I have been working on for my little 8" French Fashion doll. I have been sewing for her for a little while but have not taken any pictures of the gowns yet. I will, I promise. It's been a bit hectic around here of late, and I've been more then tired at night. Things will slow down a bit soon I hope.
  Anyway, this bridal gown has several layers, starting with the skirt of silk brocade. There is a many tiered ruffle layer at the end of the train, making it long and full. Then there is a gorgeous beaded net layer ending in a tucked scalloped full train. The bodice of the same brocade as the skirt bottom layer, is  decorated with beaded embroidery motifs . Another smaller bustle like twin poofs adorn the back of the bodice giving it extra flare.
   The veil is yet another beaded design on net veiling and crowned on top with ribbon bows and beaded motifs. She carries a bouquet  of pale pink and off white roses with a touch of other flowers to add interest. Ribbon streamers tied with roses complete the vintage look befitting a fashion princess.

DeJaVu

This is my first medieval gown for the DeJaVu doll. While the pictures and not in the best setting, it can't be helped right now, so please overlook the background and enjoy the new gown.

This picture was taken in the mirror so it isn't as clear, as the others and one other mirror image above as well.

Calling all Eugenia Lane dolls

A UFDC conference doll from the 80's {I think ?} from Eugene Org. is in my opinion, the most beautiful fashion doll ever offered. My own got broken, but I saved the pieces, and after some years, deiced to try putting her back together again. Using glue, buckram, and a lot of prayers, I got her together, and was able to put her arms back in place. Of course everywhere she was patched, it showed. I decided I was never going to do doll repair. lol.
  However, choosing a dress with long sleeves and high neckline I was able to cover all that up. She is still standing and looks beautiful in her green walking gown.
  Then I was able to find and purchase two other ladies, all in one piece, and not dressed. The first one I dressed in gold lace. then got distracted from the second one. I have now dressed her and am adding pictures here for you to see. The other two have been pictures earlier in this blog and I think if you do a search for Eugenia Lane you can find them.
  This is steel Magnolias, and although simple, I think it really shows off the doll.

Last but not least, do you have a Eugenia Lane Doll still residing in a box, undressed? If you wish to sell her, please contact me. If you would like to have her dressed, contact me and we can come to an arrangement I'm sure. This doll is not simple to dress, so while not cheap to do so, she is worth the money and time spent.

My Alice Blue Gown

My Gibson lady now has two new gowns to wear, and this latest one reminds me of the song "Alice Blue Gown". I've been saving this fabric as the lace is vintage and like my gibson, special. It seemed only right the two should be together in this fashion. It was not an easy design to create from a picture, but as you can see it has turned out lovely. There is just a touch of beading at the neckline, as I didn't want to take away from the lace. The fabric also is vintage. I love this color of blue… not real blue but with a touch of green added to make that shade of color.

Sometimes it takes awhile….

to complete a design and the sewing  etc after you do the pattern. My antique Gibson Girl said she needed a new gown to go shopping in. Oh and don't forget the hat……!

French Fashion by Alice Leverett

This is one of Alice's dress kits for her dolls. I always enjoy making these up because I learn something new every time. It also takes me at least 4 days and sometimes longer, working on it every day. They are not for the faint at heart, and they are always beautiful.
  Yes I did the sewing, and added a touch to the fan, and created different jewelry. My little lady is the best dressed doll in my house. These pictures were taken before I finished the gloves and jewelry. That said please take a look.

Red & White Queens

The red queen, and the white queen from Alice in Wonderland as I envisioned them.

Both Queens have their own elaborate styles made from my creative fantasies as to what they would have worn. Two dolls {one from Volks and the other a Dollmore ? doll} share the spotlight in their ball gowns. While the red dress is covered in sequins and beading {and a lot of sparkling glitz} the white gown has pearls,  ruffles and lace, with a attention getting train topped with satin ribbon bows. I think the designs display each in their own nature.
  The red queen is attired in a long skirt & sleeveless bodice that is covered by a long sleeved, flared overdress.
  The white queen wears a full skirt and puffed sleeved bodice, with a removable long train overskirt.
Each has two options to wear their gowns, and that's with or whiteout crowns.
I like the way they look next to each other. One isn't better then the other, just different. And I'm sure you will have your favorite.

to post. I get so busy I forget and then don't get the pictures taken. Anyway, a FF gown
that turn out pretty nice, and it sat in the bag, cut out for 7 or 8 months before I got to it. lol.
