Afternoon Toilette

This gown was inspired by an 1896 Afternoon Toilette. Made with blue green brocade, and a patterned velvet, it has a very different sleeve treatment. Three-quarter length to be worn with gloves for an afternoon tea.  Some of the pointy waists are still in vogue at this time. The velvet is not a woven pattern, but rather a "printed" design on the surface of the fabric. The ribbon drape at waist, elbow  and collar as well as the buttons down the front add decorative attention to detail. Another lovely gown for my lady. I wonder where she will be going next?
