When the time to mourn....

is upon one, there was a need for the black mourning clothes that was a part of every woman's wardrobe. Frances has one as well, made of a heavier black silk fabric and trimmed with a black fringe and something I've never seen before. A double grosgrain ribbon, with a thread running down the middle.  And this in miniature as well!
The skirt has an over-drape that brings a since of dramatic to the outfit. The jacket with all it's trimmings just seems to fit with the skirt, to make a statement even though it's all in black. The hat is black straw with the same trimmings as the jacket, and silk ribbon ties.
Nothing says mourning a loved one, like black.
Next,  a coming out white gown.
